Oz: Get your tickets now for St Paul's Players' Christmas panto
Click your heels and be transported to a faraway land – full of Munchkins and flying monkeys.
The St Paul’s Players have brought Oz to life in their annual Christmas panto and are hoping to fill out the parish hall.
Follow Dorothy and her rag-tag group of friends on their quest in a performance guaranteed to delight the whole family.
Surrey Comet unsung hero Sylvia Secrett is a pantomime veteran, and plays a policeman in Munchkin land.
She says: “I’m a poppy as well, and a city person in Emerald City. I like them equally.
“I just think it’s a lovely story, a children’s fantasy. I really think it’s great.”
Secrett says the younger members of the cast are doing their bit.
She adds: “They’re brilliant. Some of the scenes that they are playing are very good.”
Player Amanda Williams says her role has led to some ribbing from her cast-mates. She says: “I’m playing the Wicked Witch of the West. People are saying I’m not out of character.
“I’ve got my cackle down to a fine art.
“I’ve written it myself this year. I just thought it was a nice one to do – really colourful.
“We do have flying monkeys, definitely. Lots of Munchkins in it as well.”
Money raised by the performances will be donated to the Hestia charity, which runs refuges to support people suffering domestic violence.
It has three refuges in Kingston.
