Have Your Say: What do people in Malden Manor think about their area?
Kingston Council has launched a project to find out about community views and needs in Malden Manor – an area of the borough where council housing and private housing sit side by side.
The Surrey Comet spoke to residents about what they made of their home.
Retired Ian Foulds, 69, of Turner Road, said: “I have lived here most of my life, but there is not much money about. I do not feel neglected here.
"I would be happy walking through here at night, but then I am not a young female.”
John Ioannou, 42, who works in the Manor Chippy, said: “I like the community spirit in the area, but there could be better parking facilities. There are a few issues with police, but I feel pretty safe around here.”
Malden Manor schoolgirl Aliah Fofana, 8, who lives in Sheephouse Way, said: “It is fun to play in Manor Park, but I don’t like all the rubbish.
There is always rubbish on the floor like lots of bottles – plastic ones.”
Retired Yvonne Foulds, 65, of Turner Road, said: “There are one or two houses that have been left empty for a number of years. When I first came here there was a bakers and a green grocers. But the transport links are still good.”
