Get Back to New Malden Sports Club for Beatles tribute night
A Beatles tribute band will play a sports club in New Malden to celebrate 15 years of the venue’s gym facilities.
The New Malden Sports Club, a private members’ club in Somerset Close, will open its doors to the public on Saturday, October 19, for a ticket-only event featuring covers band Imagine... the Beatles.
One of the most respected Fab Four tribute bands on the circuit, expect faithful renditions of the Liverpool legends' extensive oeuvre, from the Cavern days to Beatlemania and the groundbreaking Sgt Pepper, White Album and Abbey Road records.
Rob Simpson, who takes on the role of bassist Paul McCartney, said: "We played there a couple of years ago and it was a good night.
"We're pleased they've had us back. It's a nice place and we hope to get everyone up and dancing."
Rob, who by remarkable coincidence shares the same birthday as Sir Paul - June 18 - added: "The only problem is there's so many famous Beatles tracks you can't play them all.
"You can do a good show and you'll still have someone come up to you and say: 'That was great, but you didn't play Penny Lane.'
"So you play Penny Lane and someone else comes up and says: 'You didn't play Paperback Writer'. But that's the only problem."
The New Malden Sports Club will be open to non-members for one night only
Opened in 1922, the New Malden Sports Club hosts regular social events, as well as offering nine tennis courts, four squash courts, a badminton hall, fully licensed bar and, of course, the gym, opened in 1998.
Tickets for Imagine...The Beatles cost £12 for non-members or £10 for members and must be booked in advance.
