Surbiton could soon get a third Sainsbury’s store.
The supermarket chain confirmed it has plans to open a shop on the site of the closed Queen Victoria pub, formerly The Mad Hatter, in Ewell Road.
The company already has one shop in Victoria Road, and another at Surbiton station.
A Sainsbury’s spokesman said: "We are looking to bring forward a new local store at the Queen Victoria site, which is being led by the developer Bacchus.
"We are progressing our plans and engaging with the local community, with a view to opening in early 2014."
