Closed down: The Fairfield Tavern is set to be converted into flats
An empty pub in Kingston will be converted into flats and a new underground wine bar.
Kingston Council has approved plans to convert the Fairfield Tavern, in Fairfield South, into a new, smaller drinking establishment with four residential properties above.
A planning application by Teddington-based James Lloyd Associates was accepted by the council last week, after an original proposal to convert the Victorian pub into flats was rejected in January.
The revised scheme will see the majority of the ground floor and basement retained for use as a wine bar, with the upstairs converted into two one-bed and two two-bed flats.
