Two drivers were rescued from metre-high flood waters in the early hours of this morning.
Their cars became trapped in the underpass in Kingston’s one-way system and had to be towed out by traffic police.
Police were called just after midnight.
Thames Water has been hauled in to investigate the flooding.
Roadworks were suspended while traffic was delayed.
Temporary traffic lights in Surbiton Road and Penrhyn Road, along with Ewell Road, were not operated.
Lane restrictions were not enforced in Tolworth Broadway for the same period.
