A chairman is still being sought for Kingston’s new health watchdog.

Contractor Parkwood Healthcare is advertising for a director and chairman of the newly established Healthwatch Kingston.

An advert was placed in the Surrey Comet last week, offering an “exciting opportunity” for a “highly motivated and experienced professional” to take on the voluntary role.

Parkwood won the Healthwatch contract in February.

The Surrey Comet has contacted Parkwood several times requesting an interview, but the company has instead issued statements through press releases.

Sandra Berry, former chairman of Kingston Local Involvement Network, which preceded Healthwatch, said: “Parkwood took over the contract in February. We’re now in mid-April with not a lot of contact about what they’re doing for the residents.

“Richmond had been advertising for its chair back in February.

“This is part and parcel of being very slow to get off the ground.”
