Cake extravaganza at Thames Ditton Junior School Red Nose Day Bake Off
7:30am Tuesday 19th March 2013 in News By Laura Proto
These delicious treats were the creations of the Thames Ditton Junior School Red Nose Bake Off.
The gaggle cakes was produced by teachers and year 6 students, who let their imaginations run wild to bake the most comical and delicious tea time treats.
Taking on the roles of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood were Susie Morgan, editor of About Thames Ditton magazine, and a group of teachers who were tasked with the difficult challenge of tasting the cakes as well as judging their appearance.
There were four categories where prizes were up for grabs; teachers’ bake-off winter, large cakes category, cupcakes category and biscuits and other category.
A group of year 6 girls came up with the idea to sell the competition cakes to raise money for Comic Relief and pupils were clearly excited for the end of the school day, when the baked goods were sold in the playground.
