6:00am Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News By Alice Foster, Reporter
The author of picture books about a duck called Daisy visited a new school library on Saturday.
Jane Simmons read from her book Come On, Daisy! and painted illustrations after the mayor opened the library at Downsend School Pre-Prep in Norman Avenue, Epsom.
After opening the library Epsom and Ewell mayor Councillor Christine Long attended one of Ms Simmons' workshops.
Head teacher Jacqueline Birchall said: "I really am very grateful to the madam mayor and to Jane Simmons for supporting us and helping to make our activity open morning such a success.
"The library will encourage children to become familiar with choosing from a wide selection and genres of books, as well as inspire them to read."
Teacher Sandra Bullock set up the library funded by donations from parents and the school's parents' association.
