Chessington man who threatened to torch family and police officers
A man who threatened to set his family and police officers on fire will receive mental health treatment.
Paul Burton, 47, of Hartfield Road in Chessington, doused his family with petrol and threatened police with a lighter last March.
He was given a 12-month supervised community order at Kingston Crown Court this morning.
Burton will also receive 60 days’ treatment for mental health issues as part of the order.
Police sergeants Lisa Maslen and Gary Costello and PCs Sam Holden, Jemma Lyons and Dave Akers were all commended at January’s police awards for their bravery in handling the incident.
