'Inconclusive' cause of death for Kingston man Sammy Warsame found on train at Raynes Park

The death of a man from Kingston found unconscious on a train remains a mystery, after a postmortem examination proved inconclusive.

Warsame Warsame, known as "Sammy" died on Monday after being found unconscious at Raynes Park station on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood Mr Warsame, a talented DJ who went by the name DJ Instant, had been involved in a fight shortly before he was found.

Police are investigating whether he died of injuries sustained in the fight – which took place about 45 minutes earlier on a different train between Raynes Park and Wimbledon – or if it was caused by a pre-existing medical condition.

Mr Warsame, 24, needed regular dialysis ever since he was bottled repeatedly inside a Kingston nightclub in 2007.

Today, following a postmortem examination yesterday, British Transport Police confirmed further tests would be needed to establish a cause of death.

Mr Warsame was living at the YMCA Surbiton at the time of his death.

His mother, Basra, who lives in Gloucester Road, Norbiton, revealed she had recieved a tearful phone call from her son the night before he was found.

Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson said: “What we know at this stage is Sammy was involved in an incident before he died, and while we work to establish the cause of death we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.”
