Mum's the Word with Angellica Bell: 'I have the patience of a saint'
10:00am Sunday 24th February 2013 in News
Do you sometimes have weeks where nothing eventful happens and there’s not much to talk about?
I’ve had a week like that. The week has sort of come and gone to be honest, but in the world of motherhood life never stops.
Elijah has started to be more assertive, wanting to do things on his own. He is becoming a little man with his own likes and dislikes.
That’s just what I need, another strong man in the house telling me what he wants to do.
Whether it’s feeding himself, climbing the stairs or flicking through his Peter Rabbit finger-puppet book, he lets me know when he is ready.
Luckily, I have the patience of a saint, even if I say so myself.
Then there is the baby on the way, making its presence known. This week the kicking and pushing has started, so I have been living in the land of the zombies, as it has been keeping me up at night.
At one point I jumped out of my sleep when I realised a foot was sticking out of me and had to wake Michael for him to see.
I’m not sure why I was surprised as I have seen it all before, but I guess the reality of number two hasn’t quite set in.
My son is unaware of what is happening, but he is keeping me fit and active playing, jumping and tumbling around with Mummy.
I’m really going to enjoy spending the next few months with him as I try to figure how it is all going to work and how I’m going to spread my time (and affection) between two children – especially as Michael and I have always managed on our own.
Anyway here’s to next week and hopefully more sleep.
