A man accused of setting fire to clothing in two Kingston stores has been charged with causing nine more fires.

Barry Davies, 52, has now been charged with incidents in Superdrug, Monsoon, Gap, White Stuff and Reiss in Kingston, plus stores in Richmond, Wandsworth and Ealing.

He was originally charged with setting clothes alight in both of Kingston's M&S stores on Tuesday, December 18 - one of the busiest Christmas shopping days of the year.

Both M&S and the Bentall Centre were evacuated with thousands of shoppers left out in the cold.

Mr Davies, of Roxborough Avenue, Isleworth, was remanded in custody and will appear at Kingston Crown Court on Thursday, February 21.

The charges were added when he appeared for a hearing at South West London Magistrates Court in Lavender Hill on Thursday.
