Teen charged after burglar rumbled during lunchtime break-in
A teenager has been charged with burglary and assault after an Ipad and two watches were stolen from a house.
The owner came home to find a burglar inside the house in Bannow Close, Ewell, at about 12.45pm on Friday.
The burglar fled and police searched the area and arrested a 15-year-boy.
The teenager, from Chessington, appeared at South East Surrey Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody to appear at youth court on Wednesday.
Items taken from the house were recovered a short time after the burglary.
Detective Constable Leigh Wall said: "I hope the swift action taken by officers demonstrates how Surrey Police will relentlessly pursue suspected criminals and it deters any would-be offenders.
"This was a disturbing incident for the victim, which will no doubt stay with them for some time but I hope the quick arrest and charge demonstrate to them how seriously we take offences of this nature."
