Two dogs died after a fire broke out at a second floor Kingston flat this afternoon.

Three fire engines from Kingston, New Malden and Wandsworth attended the blaze which took more than an hour to get under control in Richmond Road.

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “We were called at 12.30pm to a fire in a flat in Richmond Road, near Albany Park Road.

"Part of a second floor flat was damaged by the fire.

“Firefighters found two dogs in the living room who had died.”

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
