There will be anarchy at the home of the Ks this weekend, as one of the world’s leading Sex Pistols tribute acts comes to town, writes Ross Logan.

The Sex Pistols Experience play Kingsmeadow Live this Saturday, promising to reawaken the spirit of 1977 with some blistering renditions of the band’s best-known tracks.

Formed in 2001, the Sex Pistols Experience have played thousands of shows across the world, to crowds in Europe, the US and South America, with the likes of God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the UK.

And they will be joined at Kingsmeadow by none other than Ed Tudor- Pole, whose own back story is intrinsically linked with the original Sex Pistols.

The former frontman of punk group Tenpole Tudor, Tudor-Pole appeared in 1980 mockumentary film The Great Rock ’n’ Roll Swindle as a potential replacement for Pistols vocalist Johnny Rotten.

So expect a riotous night at Kingstonian FC’s home ground this weekend.

Paul Crook, drummer and founder of the Sex Pistols Experience, says: “We’ve played the venue a couple of times in the past and it’s always a great night.

“But this is the first time we've been there with Ed, and it's always a good time with him.

“He was in the Great Rock ’n’ Roll Swindle, and actually auditioned to replace Johnny Rotten in the Pistols.

“He did actually get it, but then Sid got arrested and that was the end of the group.

"We thought it was a bit of a no-brainer and asked him if he cared to join us on stage.

“That was about eight years ago, and we’ve become very good friends now.”

Ed Tudor-Pole will be performing an acoustic set of punk songs before the band take to the stage.

But whether the former Crystal Maze host will be joining the band for a few numbers remains a secret.

Crook says: “That would spoil the surprise.”
