‘Wrong type of snow’ damages Southern trains
Southern will be resuming its normal timetable tomorrow despite having a number of its trains damaged by snow and water.
The damage to its trains has led to the cancellation of a number of services in the Metro area tomorrow.
In addition, a limited number of services will have fewer carriages than normal.
A Southern spokesman explained that because it was powdery snow it had got blown up inside the motors where it melted and damaged the electrics.
He said the affected trains were now in depots where engineers were working on a system to proof them against further damage.
Cancellations in the Metro area:
• 07.02 Norwood Junction to London Bridge
• 08.32 Norwood Junction to London Bridge
• 09.36 Crystal Palace to London Bridge
• 17.05 London Bridge to West Croydon
• 17.42 West Croydon to London Bridge
• 18.06 London Bridge to West Croydon
Eight carriages instead of ten in the Metro Area:
• 06.32 Norwood Junction to London Bridge
• 08.02 Norwood Junction to London Bridge
• 16.36 London Bridge to West Croydon
• 17.12 West Croydon to London Bridge
• 17.36 London Bridge to West Croydon
• 18.12 West Croydon to London Bridge

How many types of snow are there? What a pitiful excuse for not investing in proper railway infrastructure.

Also there are different types of snow...one of them being the type that could easily run a train off the rails, so instead of running the network down just think on that they do have the publics safety in mind. No company wants to loose billions of pounds without good reason. Stop trains or stop lawsuits. And yes, I was effected when the trains were not running. However, I just got on a couple of busses instead
