Passengers should expect “severe disruption” on train lines travelling through the region tomorrow due to snow.

The frosty showers are expected to hit at about 10am tomorrow and continue throughout the evening and into Saturday, easing off at about 9pm.

South West Trains has published a snow plan to alert passengers to altered timetables and cancelled services.

Services disrupted include the London Waterloo service, which calls at Thames Ditton and Surbiton as well as most stations through Richmond, including Richmond, Twickenham and Whitton.

A revised timetable will also be in place on services calling at Esher, Hersham, Walton and Weybridge and between Hinchley Wood and Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon.

The latest weather forecast for tomorrow also suggests significant snowfall across many parts of the Southern network.

In preparation for this, they will be operating an amended timetable.

Trains will not split or join at Haywards Heath or Horsham stations, and will mean passengers who travel on the East and West Coastways into and out of London may be affected.

Passengers who hold Advance tickets will be able to use them on the train before or after, if their booked train does not run as a result of the changes.

The Met Office has issued an “amber” severe weather warning for south west London and Surrey.

A band of snow, heavy in places, will spread northeastwards lasting through the afternoon and evening across much of south east England. Winds will also strengthen, leading to snow drifts.

Accumulations of more than five to 10cm of snow will occur quite widely falling within three to six hours.
