A former builder who spent years of his career sweeping up asbestos dust died from industrial disease, a coroner has ruled.
Worcester Park man Christopher Moody breathed in asbestos particles during a spell working with the carcinogenic substance in the 60s and 70s.
The widower was diagnosed with mesothelioma last year and, prior to his death on Sunday, January 13, wrote a statement detailing his work history which South London Coroner Roy palmer referred to during an inquest at Croydon Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The statement explained how the Green Lane man spent around an hour every week sweeping up dust from asbestos boards during a 10 year spell.
The coroner concluded: "The evidence is clear of a history of exposure to asbestos dust. On that basis I will conclude that he died of occupational disease, asbestos related."
