Soap stars will be strapping on their boots for a charity football match in Tolworth.
Cast members from EastEnders, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks will be tackling a Corinthian Casuals side made up of youth players, managers and coaches, in support of bereavement charity Once Upon A Smile.
Money raised will also go towards new facilities for the football club, based in Hook Rise South.
Tipped to turn out for the soap star side are Corrie actor and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Sam Robertson, as well as Eastenders’ Matt Lapinskas and Tony Discipline.
Llew Walker, chairman of the Corinthian Casuals youth section, said: “We are criminally struggling without any facilities for ourselves.
“We are sanctioned by the Football Association and have chartered status, but we’re hoping to get community status. This would open lots of funding doors for us.”
Once Upon a Smile was founded in 2011, and works with hospitals and hospices to offer support to families who have experienced the death of a parent or child.
Mr Walker said: “It is a wonderful charity, in terms of the things they spend their money on.”
The match will take place on Sunday, April 28 at King George's Field in Hook Rise South, Tolworth.
