Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses after three men suspected of a burglary in Walton fled from a vehicle in Hampton Court.

The men ran away after crashing a vehicle into a lamppost in Hampton Court Road.

Officers received a report shortly before 11am on Saturday, January 5, of a burglary in progress at a property in Sidney Road, Walton.

Three men were seen leaving the property in a silver car. A vehicle matching the description was seen in Hurst Road, West Molesey, and police gave chase when the driver failed to stop.

Officers used a stinger to bring the car to a halt in Hampton Court Road, where it hit a lamppost.

Three men ran from the vehicle and in to the gardens of nearby properties. The search involved officers from Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police, including a dog unit and the police helicopter.

Items stolen in the burglary, which included sentimental jewellery and mobile phones, were recovered in the Hampton Court area and has been returned to the victim.

Detective Constable Jon Rees, who is investigating, said: “We have already spoken to a number of witnesses, but I would urge anyone who saw any part of this incident or anyone behaving suspiciously in these areas around this time to get in touch immediately, particularly if they witnessed the males running away from the silver car.”

A man was arrested in Hampton Court Road and another was arrested in Bushy Park

The two men, aged 22 and 23, have been interviewed and released on bail until February 13 while enquiries continue.
