A childhood hero will be warming hearts by taking audiences on an exciting adventure all the way to Neverland this weekend, writes Nazia Dewji.

Amateur dramatics group St Paul’s Players will perform the much-loved tale of Peter Pan as their annual Christmas pantomime this year.

The show will raise money for the Royal Hospital for Neuro Disability – a charity close to the group’s heart.

Hook resident Mark Haley received life-threatening head injuries after being attacked outside Tesco Express in Hook Parade in 2011.

St Paul’s Player David Taylor says: “We have Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinkerbell – all the characters.

“We even have grandma Wendy taking part – she is 80-plus and will be introducing the story. Everyone is a child at heart and everyone loves a Christmas pantomime.

“I am very excited about our panto. It seems like a long time ago that we started rehearsing so we are really looking forward to it.”

Peter Pan, Hook and Southborough Parish Hall, Hook Road, Hook, December 7 and 8, 8pm and 2.30pm matinee, £8. Call 020 8397 3515.
