A punter gave chase after a bookmaker in East Molesey was robbed this week.

A reward is being offered for information after a man entered the Ladbrokes branch off Hampton Court Way shortly before 6pm on Tuesday and pointed a gun-shaped item in a blue carrier bag at the cashier.

The man was challenged by a customer but was able to get away with some cash.

A customer in the bookmakers gave chase along Creek Road but lost sight of the robber in Palace Road.

Detective Constable Claire Langdon, investigating, said: “We are making enquiries in the vicinity but would appeal to anyone else who was in the Palace Road area who might have seen this man to call police immediately.”

Detectives have released a CCTV image of the robber. The man was described as white, in his 20s and slim. He was wearing a black top with a zip, a black hood or hat and black sunglasses.

Ladbrokes are offering a reward in conjunction with the Association of British Bookmakers of up to £10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man responsible.

Anyone with information that could help the ongoing investigation should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference EL/12/7984, or anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
