Kevin Hurley is the new Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey.
The ex-policeman, who ran as an independent candidate in the election, beat Conservative Julie Iles in the second count of votes.
Mr Hurley received 52,793 votes in total - 34,378 in first preferences and 18,415 in second preferences.
Ms Iles achieved 45,068 votes in total - 34,391 in first preferences and 10,677 in second preferences.
