This week I feel like I’ve done 12 rounds with Amir Khan and lost in spectacular style.

It’s been full on, so I’m not going to pull any punches and simply admit I’m absolutely exhausted.

There, I said it. Sometimes we parents don’t like to admit that occasionally it can just get a little too much trying to juggle it all: the emails, phone messages, backlog of bills and accounts, shopping, oh and texts.

Then there’s trying to get to the gym, play dates, nappies, bottles, washing... you get the drift.

It all got a little overwhelming and I couldn’t think straight.

Some may blame the change in weather; others may say it’s just one of those weeks.

Whatever the answer, I needed to tackle it all slowly one step at a time and also find a balance in terms of ‘me’ time.

I booked to have a haircut as my split ends were asking to leave of their own accord and my chipped nails are going to get salvaged next week.

I’ve dragged my tired self to bed much earlier and that’s helped with the fatigue, which in turn meant I could deal with the most important “chores”.

I guess it’s all about prioritising and not beating yourself with the stick of imperfection.

The main thing is that my son hasn’t noticed a thing, not even the bags under Mummy’s eyes (or maybe he has and that would explain his random uncontrollable fits of laughter).

I do often wonder what goes on inside his little brain, but we’ve ticked off another milestone and at nine months and one day he began crawling forward.

He’s a speed demon. So now we have to make the house child friendly, another thing to add to the list.

And breathe.
