So my baby boy has reached his eight-month milestone and it is brilliant.

I didn’t think it would be this good but I’ve surprised myself at how much I love motherhood and can’t imagine not having him around.

I’ve also adjusted quite well to managing my time by the millisecond which is fine, but I now have to have eyes at the back of my head as we move into the busy baby stage as I like to call it.

Elijah isn’t quite there yet with the crawling forward movement but has mastered the crawling backwards skill with precision.

I often think I’ve lost him in the living room but soon find him under the sofa happily watching Cbeebies.

Also, if he wants to get his hands on anything, he’ll find a way.

Rolling over as many times as it takes to get to an object or toy is his new thing and once he gets from A to B he is so chuffed with himself, there’s a massive round of applause, loudest of all from him.

Nothing like a bit of self-gratification.

I have to keep an eye out when he is in his cot too. He has the strength of an ox.

Even from birth he could hold his head up almost immediately.

His legs are solid and arms have small guns already so it’s no surprise he’s already pulling himself up in his cot.

He’s a clever thing and knows exactly what he’s doing, especially when he flashes his big grin (with six teeth) at me, understanding that he’s pushing the boundaries and will get away with it (takes after his dad).

The cot will be lowered as soon as possible!

The house will have to be made a baby safe zone.

I never thought I’d see the day it would be taken over by a little one.

In the meantime we have bought a playpen to contain the busy baby.

Hopefully that’ll work……for now!
