A couple of times this week I’ve said Happy New Year to people, only to hear the reply, ‘It’s a bit late for that!’

Really? For me the beginning of the year doesn’t start and end with January 1, you should feel free to say it anytime during the first month. A friend of mine asked why people wish January away?

Good question. It’s a time to think about all the new and exciting things that could unfold over the year ahead. Obviously, we don’t always have control over them, but we can at least try.

So this week I finally bought my 2013 diary refill (better late than never) and was set to get going and write down my resolutions in red ink.

Whereas in years gone by it was all about me, now I have someone else, apart from my husband to think about. So what do I want to achieve as a family?

A holiday perhaps? I really want to take Elijah away before we think about number two (there, I’ve said it).

Swimming lessons for the little man? I need to be brave and don a cossie so he can start having a good splash about!

Or even start a new toddler class so he can expend some of his excessive amounts of energy. All these are on the list.

I think the biggest resolution will be to use my time wisely to fit everything in.

Gone are the days where I could plonk myself on the sofa and watch reality TV.

Supermum has to sacrifice something to get it all sorted along with healthy home cooking, gym sessions, reading, eyebrow shaping, hairdressers and also fit some work in too.

It’s all about good intentions at least.

That’s what January is about, so don’t hold me to ransom if you see me with an iced bun pushing a pram around town in February!
