AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Brentford
Terry Brown admits he is still chasing another striker after a ghost from the Dons' Ryman League past came back to haunt them.
Brentford striker Nathan Elder, a thorn in Wimbledon's side for Billericay Town in recent years, struck late to consign the club to a third pre-season defeat on the trot.
Brown says he won't panic but confirmed he will look at possible striking options in the next seven days.
"It's disappointing not to have got off the mark yet but we're not too concerned by pre-season results," he said. "It's the performances we look at and we've pushed a very strong Brentford side all the way today.
"We've not had the best week in the world going into this match - we've lost two of our games before this to lower league opposition - so the performance and attitude was pleasing overall.
"We're not going to be alarmed just because we've not won yet. I was thrilled by Jon Main's goal, but we're in trouble if he gets injured. Attack is the only position we're looking at so we'll see what happens."
A moment of Football League class from Main opened the scoring. The forward collected Sam Hatton's quick free-kick and juggled the ball over Brentford left-back Sam Wood. He then stroked effortlessly into the net in front of the home support.
Glenn Poole, the Bees' energetic winger, wasn't going to take the goal lying down and before long he calved out the leveler, crossing for striker Alan Connell to power past Andy Little.
The League Two side were always in control from that moment on and had Marcus Bean and Gary Smith had lady luck on their side, their efforts would have found the net instead of the woodwork.
But injury-ravaged forward Elder stole the show in the dying minutes, the substitute latching onto Poole's fine center and thundering his header powerfully past stand-in stopper Jack Turner.
"Nathan deserved that, he's had a torrid time with injuries since he's been here," Brentford manager Andy Scott said after. "He's got his head down and worked ever so hard - I'm chuffed to bits with him."
