VOLLEYBALL: It is being billed as the largest outdoor volleyball event to be held in the capital, and it's coming to Imber Court sports ground next month. Forty teams have already registered to take part in the Richmond Volleyball International Festival, which will be held at the East Molesey venue from Saturday, August 23, to Monday, August 25. Further teams are being invited to enter. The price for adult teams of six is £100, which includes camping, three nights' of entertainment and parking. Junior team entries cost £50. ATHLETICS: Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow claimed four titles at the National Schools Championships in Gateshead last weekend. Deji Tobais won the intermediate boys' 100m (10.68 seconds), Rikki Letch the intermediate boys' 800m (1:55.55), Shelayna Oskan the senior girls' 400m (55.87) and Sophie Upton the senior girls' pole vault (3.70m).
Silver medals: Michael Puplampu (senior boys' triple jump 14.40m), Laurie Clarke (senior boys' 110m hurdles 14.35)m Chanel Taite (intermediate girls' 80m hurdles 11.31). Bronze medal: Cameron Lake (senior boys' high jump 1.93m).
FOOTBALL: Old Meadonians have appointed first-team skipper Jack Costello and stalwart Ed Glover as first-team managers. They replace retiring Paul Rumley and Rory Vermeulen, who collected 14 trophies during their six years in charge. Rumley has been appointed club development officer and Vermeulen vice-chairman. Alex, from Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club, near Molesey, is now set for the Class European Championships, which are being held in Holland from Sunday.ROWING: The Guy Salmon-sponsored Kingston Regatta took place last weekend and was a resounding success. With 342 crews competing in more than 220 races, it is now firmly established as London's premier river regatta. The finale to Saturday's regatta was the top men's event, the Senior 3 Eights final, in which Kingston Rowing Club pipped Sons of the Thames Boat Club for first place.FOOTBALL: British Airways WFC, based in Cranford and Hounslow, are looking for a goalkeeper for a friendly match on Sunday, July 27, and into the new season.
