Sutton United chairman Bruce Elliott has pledged to ensure new boss Paul Doswell's appointment is not another false dawn.
Elliott confirmed last week that the former Eastleigh boss will have a little extra cash to play with next season and Doswell plans to clear the decks at Gander Green Lane.
The new manager has even hinted that Sutton's chocolate and yellow kit could be abolished after insisting on white socks and shorts for next season.
Elliott admits he isn't sure how long supporters will put up with an under-achieving squad.
"With the team at the bottom of the table, I expected gates to drop off, but they didn't. I am not sure how long that will be the case if we don't go straight back up," he said.
"We are excited by Paul's appointment.
"If the team can get off to a good start, we will give promotion our best shot. We need to repay the loyalty of our fans."
