More than 1,400 children in Kingston showed off their artistic talents during MP Edward Davey’s 15th annual Christmas card competition.
The energy secretary’s popular contest to design his official festive greetings card saw artistic youngsters aged from four to 15 submit their creations, with this year’s theme being charity appeal Love Kingston.
Mr Davey judged the entries along with Kingston Council leader Liz Green and Love Kingston fundraising manager Elaine Miller, who said: “There were about 1,400 entries and the talent in Kingston is absolutely staggering.
“It was very difficult to judge.”
The overall winner was 10-year-old Evie Bennison, who submitted a drawing of the three fishes from the borough’s coat of arms wearing Santa hats found favour with the judges.
As well as her picture appear on the front of Mr Davey’s official 2013 Christmas card, her family will be invited to join the MP for tea at the House of Commons.
In second place overall was 12-year-old Yasmin Hassan and third place went to Harriet Procter, five, who won her own age group.
