Not every actress would be brave enough to take a one-woman show on a 54-date tour of the country, but then again not every actress is Jodie Prenger.
The West End star and winner of the BBC’s I’d Do Anything television show will star in Tell Me On a Sunday, which plays Richmond Theatre on March 13, Dartford’s Orchard Theatre on March 14, New Wimbledon Theatre on April 18, Epsom Playhouse on May 16 and Bromley’s Churchill Theatre on June 8.
Written by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Oscar-winning lyricist Don Black, the musical is about the misadventures of a young English girl in the United States in the 1980s.
Prenger said the music attracted her to the project. She said: “The songs are beautiful, little gems.
“Years and years ago I had a ‘best of the musicals’ double cassette and it had Take That Look Off Your Face and Tell Me On A Sunday on it.
“I loved it and played it over and over. But all the songs together create a journey that every woman has gone through at some point in her life.
“Tell Me On A Sunday is a song that really affects people – I can hear them sniffing!”
