New artistic director Paul Miller opens his Orange Tree Theatre reign with novelist DH Lawrence's The Widowing of Mrs Holroyd.

Set in a small Midlands mining town and written 100 years ago, it is a return to Lawrence's work for Miller, who produced critically-acclaimed The Daughter-in-Law in Sheffield last year.

Actress Ellie Piercy plays Lizzie Holroyd, having previously played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe.

Other cast members announced include Gyuri Sarossy, fresh from touring in Noel Coward's Tonight at 8.30, which included a stint at Richmond Theatre earlier this summer.

Polly Hemingway, who plays his mother, also appears alongside Jordan Mifsud, Heather Johnson, Maggie O'Brien and Jamie Satterthwaite.

Set in a tight-knite mining community, Lawrence brings to life the story of Mrs Holroyd, a woman very much on the edge, at the Orange Tree Theatre next month.

Post-show talks will be given on September 18 (2.30pm) and September 23 (7.30pm).
