Blues Brothers Banned pretty much have their niche covered - after all, how many other eleven-piece tribute acts do you know?

Punctuated with rhythm and blues, swing, ska, plus soul shenanigans galore, the high-energy group present hits from cult Blues Brothers and Commitments films throughout a two-hour performance.

The Banned are sure to be in high spirits too coming off a three-week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the third year in a row they have played to packed out houses.

This year they were at the Pleasance Dome and received very favourable reviews, with one saying, “Seven musicians and singers, two backing singers and soloists, a Jake and an Elwood, all make for the best comedy music show I have seen this Fringe.”

Starting with the favourites you might witness a chart hit in disguise, a reggae riff or even a rap, but at the heart of it will be the classics - Sweet Home Chicago, Going Back to Miami and Midnight Hour.

Songs as diverse as Scotland The Brave, Shout, Hound Dog and a variation of the Scrubs theme tune could also make a special appearance having featured in the Edinburgh show this year.

  • Blues Brothers Band, Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, Croydon, September 5, 7.45pm, £14.50 / £12.50. Call 020 8688 9291 or visit fairfield.co.uk.

This article might be headed Feeling Blue, but there ain't nothing blue about these guys. I've seen this show many times and from the very start the shear energy and exhuberance is extraordinary. Make no mistake, The Blues Brothers Banned is no mere tribute band. This is of the moment, music alive and kicking as it should be and of the highest order. Jake and Elwood would be proud of these guys for they are carrying on where J&E left off - and some! If indeed you are feeling blue then this phenominal eleven piece band is the perfect antidote - I urge everyone to see this amazing show...You, Me, Them, Everybody!!!
