The folk invasion into mainstream music continues apace, with bands such as Fleet Foxes and Mumford and Sons households names, and the Scream Lounge is preparing to host one of the best groups around.
Comprising members from three top bands, Bellowhead, the Seth Lakeman Band and Waterson:Carthy, Faustus could be considered a folk supergroup.
Their debut album in 2008 led to a nomination for BBC Folk Award best group and after a two year hiatus the team are back for another bite of the cherry.
Members include Bellowhead and Seth Lakeman Band’s guitar and bouzouki player Benji Kirkpatrick, Saul Rose, a former folk musician of the year nominee and clarinet player and composer Paul Sartin.
Alongside playing the gig, the trio will run a music workshop for children in the morning, as part of the Croydon Young Musicians programme run by Croydon Music & Arts.
Faustus; Scream Lounge, South End, Croydon; October 13, 8pm; £9, or £10 on the night; scream lounge.com.
