US punk legends Dan Andriano and Brendan Kelly are coming to Kingston, writes Garrick Alder.

Otherwise known as the bass players and singers of Alkaline Trio and The Lawrence Arms, they’ve gone on to release solo material as Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room and Brendan Kelly and The Wandering Birds.

It is the first time in a long while that Andriano and Kelly – both ex-Slapstick men – have played together.

Andriano played bass on The Falcon’s 2004 EP, God Don’t Make No Trash, at the request of guitarist and lead vocalist Kelly, and would return in 2006 to play bass and provide vocals for Unicornography. In 1993 he and several friends formed the punk-ska fusion band Slapstick with Andriano playing bass and contributing backing vocals.

In late 1997 Andriano was asked to join the Alkaline Trio, replacing original bassist Rob Doran. Raspy-voiced Kelly’s former bands include Slapstick and The Broadways.

Kelly provided backup vocals for the songs The Company, Stuck In Summertime and Unsatisfied on The Copyrights’s Make Sound album. In 2011 Kelly, with backing from the Wandering Birds, released a three-song EP, A Man With The Passion of Tennessee Williams and followed up with a full length set in 2012 entitled I’d Rather Die Than Live Forever.

Support is provided by singer/songwriter Sam Russo.
