A jazz concert this Sunday will be recorded for a radio broadcast, becoming the first-ever arts event broadcast for the band and the venue.

The Herts Jazz Club will be joined by Andrew Bain's Quartet for their weekly gig this Sunday, as well as BBC Radio 3 who will broadcast it on the show Jazz Now on December 12.

Established in 1969, Herts Jazz has become a renowned venue for jazz fans young and old. Gigs featuring the very best jazz talent in the country happen every Sunday at 7.30pm at the brand new Screen 2 auditorium at the Hawthorne Theatre, Welwyn Garden City.

The gigs have a very relaxed atmosphere where music is top of the agenda for aficionados and newcomers alike.

For the special performance this weekend they will be joined by Andrew Bain's Quartet as part of their UK tour. Andrew Bain is one of the leading drummers and composers in the UK.

This will be his first nationwide tour, for which he is joined by UK heavyweight pianist George Colligan, Thelonious Monk competition winner Jon Irabagon on saxophone and Michael Janisch on the bass.

Their tour is a trans-Atlantic project aiming to capture the excitement and energy of New York City, where all have lived, bringing something a little different to Herts Jazz this week.
