A games fan from Sutton spent four days camping in the rain in central London to get his hands on Grand Theft Auto V before anyone else.

Taylor Pelling, 20, was at the front of the queue at HMV in Oxford Street at midnight last night having taken his place at 5am on Friday.

The Meadow Close gamer spent the next three days braving out rain and winds to get hold of the eagerly anticipated game at the moment it was released.

Mr Pelling, who was playing on the 18-certificate game as he talked to the Sutton Guardian, said: "I got a tent off Amazon and it said it was waterproof but it turned out not to be, which wasn't great.

"I was on my own outside the store until 3am on Monday but in general people were really nice to me. I know it's only a video game, but I think people respect someone who has got that dedication to something.

"The game is great, I'm actually playing it as we speak! It's exceeded expectations."

Mr Pelling, a media student St Mary's University College in Twickenham, was at the front of the queue for the launch of another popular game, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, in November. On that occasion he camped for six days.

Grand Theft Auto V has been hailed as one of the best games ever created. It allows players to roam a giant world carrying out tasks and causing mayhem.

It, like other titles in the long-running series, has attracted criticism for allowing players to carry out violent acts, use drugs and visit prostitutes.
