A gravity-defying cake is to go under the hammer to raise cash for a charity close to the baker’s heart.

Gabriela Eddolls, of West Hill Avenue, Epsom, will be auctioning a special chocolate mud cake, which will feature a milk jug appearing to pour into a bowl surrounded by mice in Christmas hats.

The 36-year-old, who runs her own business, Cake Boudoir, from home, hopes sweet-toothed locals will place their bids to raise money for the Antenatal Results and Choices (ARC) charity which helps expectant and bereaved parents.

Ms Eddolls lost her daughter three years ago and sought support from the charity.

She will construct the cake on a two-day cake course, before posting a picture of the final product on Cake Boudoir’s Facebook page.

Bidding will start on Facebook on Saturday, November 30, and will continue until 12.45pm the next day.

A live auction will then be held at the Lakeland store, in Epsom, on Sunday, December 1, at 1pm to allow people to also make bids in person.

There will be no starting price.

The highest bidder from all those received on Facebook and in the live auction will be the lucky winner of the sweet treat.

Ms Eddolls said: “Instead of eating the cake, because it’s such a special design, I want to give it away.

“It’s a small charity and they do an awful lot of good work.  It’s very important that they get the support.

“Three years ago, we didn’t know about the charity until after we lost our daughter.

“They cover a topic people don’t really know how to approach, or they don’t want to talk about.   It doesn’t get a lot of publicity.”
