Burger chain McDonald’s has launched a fancy new ‘premium’ range of burgers, with Balham and Woolwich among just 28 restaurants to get them.

The Signature Collection is now available at the Church Street, Woolwich, and the Drive Thru in Balham.

McDonalds created the burgers in three different flavours – the classic, the BBQ and the spicy – with help from their food specialist and their Chefs Council which includes cooks with experience in Michelin-starred kitchens and cooking for royalty.

Each features a thicker patty and a brioche-style bun and costs £4.69 for the sandwich or £6.19 for a meal.

The collection includes:

  • The Classic: 100 per cent British and Irish beef patty, two rashers of Beechwood smoked bacon, a slice of natural cheddar cheese, wholegrain mustard mayo, ketchup, Batavia lettuce and red onion in a Brioche-style bun
  • The BBQ: 100 per cent British and Irish beef patty, smoky BBQ sauce, coleslaw, red onion, Batavia lettuce, Beechwood smoked bacon and a slice of natural cheddar cheese in a Brioche-style bun
  • The Spicy: 100 per cent British and Irish beef patty, Jalapeño slices, Pepper Jack cheese, Batavia lettuce, mayo and a spicy relish in a Brioche-style bun

Balham franchisee Mike Smith said: “It’s a really exciting addition to our menu, and I am pleased that the Balham restaurant is part of the pilot that will help us get this ready to roll out next year.”

The Signature Collection trial is currently at 28 restaurants in London and the south and will roll out to around 400 restaurants nationwide next summer.
