Twickenham Museum is showcasing items found by students from Orleans Park School during a dig at Sandycombe Lodge, the country home of acclaimed landscape artist JMW Turner.

The display includes a pipe stem, pottery, costume jewellery and lead toy horses from the 19th century.

The students were invited to do the dig by Turner’s House Trust last July.

Susan Youngs, a trustee, said: “We are delighted that through this display at the museum, others are now able to share, not only glimpses of the past history of Turner’s Twickenham architectural gem, but the enthusiasm of local people keen to explore history.”
