Children love to play with anything – be it a ball, a skipping rope or just an empty space to run around in, but who would have thought that play could be fascinating enough to warrant its own exhibition?

Well Kingston Museum seems to think so.

The museum has decided its first exhibition of the new year will be dedicated to preschool children and what they love to do best.

Art plus Play will bring the family together for an interactive walkthrough based on creative exploration of materials where visitors can feel everything they see.

All eight artists involved – Linda Arkley, Lucy Fergus, Alex Hallowes, Pete Rogers, Kate Sully, Jason Taylor, Kathryn and Rachel Welford – spent five days tailing little ones to find out how they thought, played, and created their own little works.

The free touring exhibition is produced by A 20-21 Visual Art Centre and supported by the National Lottery through the Arts Council England.
