An artistic genre introduced in Ancient Roman and Egyptian times will be explored in a new exhibition.

Still Life: Nature and Objects Staged will present traditional depictions of man-made and natural objects as well as more conceptual pastiches and novel creations in mixed digital media.

The still life genre flourished throughout the 17th century and this exhibition, run by Orleans House Gallery and organised by Richmond Council, will take a look back as well as brining the genre into the present day.

Richmond Council’s cabinet member for culture, Councillor Gareth Evans, says: "The still life exhibition is a wonderful addition to all that our cultural services have to offer.

"I’m certain it will attract art lovers and artists alike from across the country and I would urge as many people as possible to come along and enjoy the exhibition."
