Four films with a screenplay written by R C Sherriff will be shown at venues across the borough this month to mark the 20th anniversary of the trust.
The R C Sherriff trust was set up in 1993 to continue the legacy of the life and work of author, playwright and screenwriter Robert Cedric Sherriff.
The original films shown as part of the film festival, which is in partnership with film societies from the borough, date back to the 1930s, 40s and 50s and were all penned by the Elmbridge literary figure.
The festival starts up with the Dambusters, which depicts one of the country’s proudest achievements of the Second World War, and will be shown at the Everyman Cinema on Thursday, October 17.
Next on the bill is Goodbye Mr Chips, the touching tale of a retired schoolmaster, at Hersham Community Centre, before That Hamilton Woman graces the screens at Cleves School and the Vera Fletcher Hall.
The film festival ends with a grand finale concert at the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse on Saturday, October 26, where the Surrey Brass Band will fill the theatre with an evening of music from the movies.
