MUSIC

Surrey Comet: Status Quo at the Brighton Centre credit Mike Burnell

The radio station I listen to…

Radio 4 mostly, I suppose.  Does that make me a dreadful old codger?  Oh and I like Radio Jack FM when I’m in London, it’s so random.

My favourite band…

Um… this is really embarrassing… Status Quo.  They are just wonderful live.  Haha!  I am a codger after all!

The album or song I can’t get enough of right now…

Love Ed Sheeran’s Tenerife Sea, such a beautiful song

My favourite place to hear live music…

Union Chapel, Islington.  Such a great space.

My favourite festival memory…

Eating veggie burgers at Cropredy Festival and laughing at all the crazy macramé clothes people were wearing and meeting Whispering Bob Harris and then falling over in the mud.  Somehow it was all hilarious. I can’t remember who was playing at all…!

THEATRE AND COMEDY

Surrey Comet: DEADLY SERIOUS: Claire Skinner as Mum (Sue), Ramona Marquez as Karen, Hugh Dennis as Dad (Pete), Tyger Drew-Honey as Jake, Daniel Roche as Ben and Hattie Morahan as Jane, in the Outnumbered Christmas special

I always laugh at…

I adore OUTNUMBERED.   So funny and clever.

The best play I have seen…

Well, that would be hard to say because I’ve spent the last 557 years going to the theatre and I’ve seen an AWFUL lot of plays.  Recently, however, I saw WASTE by Harley Granville-Barker at the National Theatre with Charles Edwards.  It was seriously brilliant.

My all-time favourite musical…

Fiddler on the Roof.  No contest.

My favourite place to watch a show…

I adore the National Theatre, we go a lot.

TV AND FILM

Surrey Comet: HEALTHY OPTION: But even spinach fan Popeye had a best mate who loved hamburgers!

My favourite movie is…

I’ve got quite a few favourite movies but I can never tire of It’s A Wonderful Life.

As a kid I loved…

Oh, dear me, this really is exposing me as a codger.  Mr. Pastry.  Circus Boy.  The Beverley Hillbillies.  Popeye.  Captain Pugwash.

I’ll make a point of staying in to watch…

Nothing’s grabbed me since the autumn schedule, as I’ve just come back from holiday.  But I was addicted to The Fall and I think Breaking Bad is the greatest television series ever made.
