A man who has stopped arms deals, brought winning policy to Parliament and walked the length of the Israeli wall in the West Bank is bringing his comedy to the borough.

Following sold out Edinburgh Fringe run, arty-mischief maker Mark Thomas continues his eighth nationwide tour with a comedy of betrayal.

Thomas tells his true story of how Britain's biggest arms manufacturer, BAE Systems, came to spy on a comedian in this multi-award-winning tale of planes and undercover deceit.

For his second theatre piece, Cuckooed, he was awarded his second Scotsman Fringe First as well as the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression award, something he said was "a very inspiring experience and I feel very humbled".

The Sunday Herald described Cuckooed as: "A brand of comedy that carries a far weightier purpose than to simply generate laughs... Cuckooed leaves a lasting impression."

He is not only a live show performer. Mr Thomas has worked with Channel 4 on the Mark Thomas Comedy Product which ran for six years, he has published three books and a manifesto, had various series commissioned by Radio 4 and investigated everything from Coca-Cola to inheritance tax avoidance in various TV documentaries.

Fortunately, he says, he has "just enough bastard in him" to prevent him from becoming a national treasure.
