Volunteers are needed for the launch of a new arts festival.

Creative Youth, which organises the annual International Youth Arts Festival, is hoping to bring Kingston to life with a second event, called Animate.

A programme of dance, theatre, music, puppetry, film, sculpture, circus art and lighting installations aims to bring vibrancy and creativity to the town centre during the cold weather.

The organisers hope to uncover the lost spaces of Kingston in a trail of entertaining events, which will run through the heart of the town, breathing energy into "our struggling high street".

Volunteers are needed in various capacities for the festival, which will run every Monday and Thursday from February 13 to March 24.

Roles include making and building umbrella lights to be displayed, stewarding, to make sure everything runs smoothly, and marketing and promotions.

To volunteer, or for more information, email jack dimes@hotmail.co.uk or molly_freeman@hotmail.co.uk.
