As 2013 draws to a close let’s reflect on ‘The Good, the Bad & the Ugly’ movies that either entertained us or robbed us of two hours of our life over the last year.

Now I think about, 2013 wasn’t a fantastic year for great films. There were a few eagerly anticipated films that kept their part of the bargain and didn’t let me down. There was also the odd one or two that I had high hopes but just left me disappointed and then there were the outright stinkers!

The Good:
This is going to make me look a little bit shallow but I’m afraid the majority of films that I gave the thumbs up to were animated, sci-fi or in the superhero category.
My pick of 2013 was Disney’s Frozen and Monsters University, Gravity (3D), Thor: The Dark World, Star Trek: Into Darkness (a bit of theme going on here), Iron Man 3, and the surprising Pacific Rim. There were also the low budget sleepers such as Love Is All You Need, the English / Dutch romantic feel good film starring Pierce Brosnan, Saving Mr Banks, Rush and the recent American tale of ‘The Butler’.

The Bad:
Films that was as bad as their trailer - Broken City, Hansel and Gretel, Identity Thief. Disappointments - Man of Steel, Oblivion, Planes, Worlds End and Oz the Great and Powerful.

The Stinkers:
The Lone Ranger, Grown Ups 2 and 2 Guns.

Look out for my choice of films to watch in 2014.
