Group of performers causing a splash in Tooting
9:00am Sunday 27th January 2013 in Leisure By Charlotte Meredith
A group of performers will be causing a splash in Tooting with a series of free events dedicated entirely to the local lido.
In February, Wandsworth Museum and the dance theatre group Dear Lido are hosting a series of events devoted completely to the splendour of the much-loved outdoor public pool.
The local community is being urged to dive right in with a vast range of practical activities being held at the Construction Gallery, a three-month pop-up creative hub on Upper Tooting Road.
As a celebration of the past and present of the pool, residents will be able to get hands-on with history, with a collection of archive material and human interest stories accompanying a range of vintage-inspired workshops.
From an old-fashioned tea party, to a vintage hair and makeup class, visitors will be able to revel in all things retro.
Creative residents could even see their artwork being used as part of a set design, or more athletic participants may want to try their hand at a special dance workshop, being held by the cast of Dear Lido.
Booking is required for those who are keen to take part, with workshops taking place from Wednesday 15 to Saturday 18.
