To celebrate the 150th running of the Grand Military Gold Cup, the Princess Royal will attend Sandown Park on Friday.

Princess Anne has been a supporter of the day on previous years and attended the event last year.

On arrival to Sandown Park, Her Royal Highness will be greeted by Gordon Lee-Steere, vice-Lord Lieutenant and Lieutenant General Sir Barney White-Spunner KCB CBE, chairman of the grand military race committee.

Before the race, Princess Anne will visit the wounded serviceman from Headley Court, who the racecourse entertains each year.

To add to the excitement of the day, the Royal Artillery Hunt will parade in front of Princess Anne, who will also be making trophy presentations to the winning connections of the three military races.

Rupert Trevelyan, regional director of London for Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “We are honoured to be graced by a visit from HRH the Princess Royal to mark the 150th running of the Grand Military Gold Cup. I am very much looking forward to the day.”
